7 Days Tanzania Luxury Safari

5/5

Tour Overview

This trip takes use of gorgeous properties and semi-mobile tented camps to bring you as near to animals as possible. This journey will also provide you with insights into Africa’s big cats, other enormous fascinating creatures, hundreds of colorful birds, unusual landscapes, and minor wonders of the bushes. This painstakingly organized safari provides a diverse and action-packed trip into Tanzania’s top wildlife reserves, with a focus on special wilderness experiences.
Your Naturalist guide, who is from Tanzania but speaks English fluently, will be knowledgeable about the area fauna and culture. He will be familiar with all of the parks’ distant and seldom visited regions in order to maximize your animal viewing and avoid the masses from packaged tour groups. You have entire control over when, where, and how long you game drive, what animals you seek, how long you linger at each sighting, and when you return to the lodge. Your experienced naturalist guide will dedicate his or her whole day to you, answering questions and adapting each day to your specific interests.

DAY 4&5 – CENTRAL SERENGETI
After a lovey breakfast we drive into the famous Serengeti National Park. After approx 2,5 hours drive you will reach the Central Serengeti. The goal for the next days is to explore the Southern and Central Serengeti including the famous Seronera Valley where we will track the herds of wildebeest and Zebras on their annual migration. Around May-June you will see them in these areas lured by the green grasses of the savannah. Located in the Central Serengeti your accommodation Kiota Camp is ideally situated to offer superlative access to the annual migration and the ‘Big 5’ with sweeping views overlooking endless plains and river confluences.
Central Serengeti, famous known as Seronera area is a transitional zone, where the Serengeti plains end and the woodlands begin, giving rise to a multitude of species that co-exist from both habitats. Because the rivers that run through the Seronera Valley are perennial, most of the animals here are full-time residents, making it one of the best areas for game viewing year-round. Some of the species you’ll likely see exploring the Seronera Valley include lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, jackal, bat-eared fox, mongoose, elephant, giraffe, impala, waterbuck, hippo, Nile crocodile, topi, hartbeest, redbuck, bushbuck, buffalo, baboon and ververt monkeys. The acacia and sausage trees lining the rivers are some of the best places for spotting leopards in the Central Serengeti.
We`ll search for the big cats – lions, leopard and cheetah and the small ones too. According to the Serengeti Lion Research Project, Central Serengeti home to over twelve lion prides that live within a one-hour game drive radius of the Seronera River Valley. The Seronera is also home to a significant leopard population and this is your second best chance of seeing many leopards on safari.
Your accommodation for the coming 2 nights is located in the Southern Central Serengeti (within the Moru Kopjes area), the Pioneer Camp is ideally situated to offer superlative access to the annual migration and the ‘Big 5’ with sweeping views overlooking Moru Kopjes, Lake Magadi and the endless plains. The luxury camp leaves a ‘zero footprint’ and close proximity to nature combines to make an unmistakably distinctive and truly individual offering. Comprising of twelve luxury tented accommodations, all of which have en-suite facilities including a flushing toilet, vanity basin, and showers, the tent interiors are designed to evoke the very best of an era long-gone but certainly not forgotten, combined with a chic modern touch.

DAY 6 – NGORONGORO HIGHLANDS
This is your last day in Serengeti, If you’re feeling up to it, we’ll depart at 6:00 am with a breakfast box for an early morning game drive to see the wildlife when they are most active and enjoy a glorious African sunrise. Spend the morning game driving along the kopjes in Southern part of Serengeti, before we exit the Naabi gate and ascend the Ngorongoro Highlands. Time permits we’ll visit the world famous archeological site, the Olduvai Gorge.
When the road first reaches the Crater rim there is a splendid viewpoint. From the rim you can look down some 500 meters to the crater floor. Spread out below you is all the features that make the crater a microcosm of the Serengeti: open grassland, streams, swamps, lakes, forests, hills and steep slopes. These are the habitats that allow so many animals to live together in such a small area. Take some time to study the Crater floor with a pair of binoculars. You can usually see buffalo, hippo and elephant near the swamps and sometimes rhino on the plains. The edge or top of the Crater’s rim is unbroken, though indented by watercourses. The Ngorongoro Crater is a caldera, a sunken or collapsed cone of a volcano. It is the largest inactive and unbroken caldera in the world. Before Ngorongoro collapsed about 2.5 million years ago, it may have rivaled Mount Kilimanjaro in size.
Please dress up warmly as the temperature will drop with an increase in elevation.
You ́ll be staying at Pakulala Luxury Camp on the rim of the crater, with a splendid view of the crater and easy access to the descending point. The camp with only 10 tents offering an elegant fusion of modern and classic accommodation, en suite bathrooms contain hot shower with wooden deck and flush eco toilet.
Dinner and Overnight Included

DAY 7 – NGORONGORO CRATER AND BACK TO ARUSHA
We suggest an early departure while your guide will pack a picnic lunch to be enjoyed on the crater floor. Keep a look out for black rhinos, black maned lions and also the massive bull elephants. Take a break for a delicious bush lunch at Ngoitokitok Springs where you can stretch your safari legs, listen to the grunts of the local hippos and admire the profusion of bird life.
The Ngorongoro Crater is a world heritage site, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and is commonly referred to as the 8th wonder of the world. The 2,000 feet high walls of the approximately 10-mile-wide crater create a natural amphitheatre for the densest populations of large animals anywhere. The rich soils and abundant, year-round water provide an ideal habitat for a variety of approximately 22,000 large animals. Herbivores that you will likely encounter include elephant, black rhino, hippo, buffalo, eland, zebra, wildebeest, hartebeest, waterbuck, warthog, Grant’s gazelle and Thomson’s gazelle. Primates include baboons and vervet monkeys. Carnivores that you will likely encounter include lion, cheetah, hyena and jackal. Leopards, servals, bat eared foxes and ratels are also resident within the Crater but are much more elusive.
Early noon you will ascend the Crater wall and drive to a remote village to encounter the Maasai people who live side by side with the wildlife in the Ngorongoro Conservation area. A village chief will provide a tour of the Boma and explain their beliefs and way of life. The Maasai are pastoralists and they live off their herds of cattle, sheep, goats, and donkeys. They live in peaceful coexistence with the surrounding wildlife and are legendary for their independence, physical courage, and their ferocity as warriors.
Before dusk drive back to Arusha to Airport or back to you hotel or overnight.

Simply wonderful from the moment we arrived in Tanzania. Never been to Africa before and tents are not our usual accommodation - but this was an exceptional environment and we felt privileged to be so close to the animals we came to see 24/7

We had high hopes/expectations for our trip, and they were thoroughly exceeded! We loved every minute of it, and both camps, although different, were spectacular in their own ways. We hope this is not our last trip to Africa
